According to the category of work, employees are divided into 4 risk groups and subsequently the frequency of performing preventive medical examinations in relation to work is adjusted. These examinations are focused on the possible risks of damage to health, which arise only during the performance of work duties - Journal of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic on the content of preventive medical examinations in relation to work of 2.11. 2016. These examinations in relation to work are part of health surveillance in the field of occupational health and are performed by occupational health service physicians with the relevant specialization and physicians specializing in the field of general medicine (hereinafter referred to as general practitioner). These examinations therefore do not fulfill the role of personal preventive examinations, to which every citizen of the Slovak Republic is entitled once every two years. The categories of work are, according to the risk, the following:
1st category of work: this includes work in which there is no risk of damage to the employee's health due to work and the working environment.
Category 2: activities for which, due to the risk, there is no presumption of damage to health, in particular work in which the factors of work and the working environment do not exceed the limits set by special regulations and also work with ionizing radiation, construction, technical and organizational measures ensure that the exposure of workers, even with long-term exposure, does not exceed the exposure limits for workers laid down in a special regulation.
Category 3: this includes activities in which exposure to work and work environment factors is not reduced by technical measures to the level of the established limit and organizational measures and other protective measures, including the use of personal protective equipment, must be taken to reduce the risk. whose exposure of workers to work and the working environment is reduced by technical measures to the level of the established limit, but the interaction and action of factors of work and the working environment may be harmful to health. We also include work for which no limits are set, but exposure to labor and work environment factors can cause damage to the employee's health and also work performed in a controlled area, in which due to the level and variability of radiation parameters is to limit worker exposure to the level exposure limits necessary to use personal protective equipment and to implement additional technical, organizational or other specific protective measures.
4. category: exceptionally only for a limited time, for a maximum of one year, this includes work for which it is not possible to reduce the exposure to work and work environment factors by technical or organizational measures to the level of set limits, exposure to work and work environment exceeds limits, the health changes of employees in relation to the factors involved are identified and technical measures and other protective measures need to be taken, including the use of personal protective equipment. In addition, this includes work which, according to the degree of exposure to individual work and work factors, falls into the third category, but the combination of work and work environment factors increases the risk of damage to health and work performed in activities leading to exposure where the exposure of workers exceeds exposure limits. and such exposure has been positively assessed by the Public Health Office.
